Man of the match: Harish for his contributions with bat (40). OCC won the toss
and elected to bat. Ninad and Anshuman started the game steadily and steered OCC
to 28/0 in 6 overs. Parth and Rahul bowled a good line. Krishna continued the
discipline set by opening bowlers and bowled a good like – he got Anshuman (14)
in the 10th over (34/1). In next over, Ketan got Ninad (15) – OCC were 34/2.
Tanmay and Sumit then played cautiously while Ketan and Krisha bowled a very
good line. Ketan got Tanmay (11) and Sumit (13) in 15th and 17th overs. Sunil
started his spell by taking Javed’s wicket in 20th over. Rahim (12) who started
his innings with his regular aggression gave his wicket to Ketan 21st over. OCC
were in deep trouble with 78/6 in 21 overs with all the top 6 batmen out. Then
Harish started his innings which can certainly be called as one of the very
important (and sensational) innings for OCC. Ashish and Harish kept the score
ticking till 24th over – OCC were 86/6 in 24 overs. Harish started 25th over
with a much needed four. But just when Ashish and Harish seemed set for a good
partnership, Ashish was adjudged leg before. OCC were 97/7 after 26 overs.
Rakesh then supported Harish for next 3 overs when Harish managed to move OCC
score to 133! Krishna got some momentum back to Anzacs by taking Sameer and
Rakesh’s wickets in 29th over. Harish and Gauri ended OCC innings in 30th over
at 138. Harish scored 40 with 4 towering sixes and 1 four before getting run out
on the last ball of the OCC innings. This was definitely a fighting total for
OCC. OCC camp was rejuvenated by Harish’s late strike and a fighting total.
Gauri and Rahim started OCC attack with aggression. Parth and Shekhar managed to
navigate through first 3 overs. Gauri eventually got the best of Shekhar and got
him caught and bowled. Rahim removed the one down batman Ketan through a yorker.
Parth and Krishna continued their innings with caution till Gauri’s accurate
bowling paid off and Parth was on his way (Ninad took a brilliant catch in
covers) – Anzacs were 21/3 in 8 overs. Tanmay got Krishna out in his very second
over. Anirudh and Rahul seemed determined to take up the OCC challenge. They
continued to gather runs with caution – Anzacs were 54/5 in 15 overs at the
drinks break. Sameer started his spell in the 16th over and got Anirudh on an
awkward full toss delivery. Rahul gave his wicket in a mix up that resulted in a
run out. Sameer got Vivek in 20th over leaving Anzacs at 71/7. In the 21st over,
another mix up got Sundar out – Anzacs were is deep trouble at 75/8. But Sunil
and Shaluka scored 12 runs in the next over to make it clear that the game was
still on. Anzacs needed 52 from 8 overs with 2 wickets in hand. But Javed’s
first ball in 23rd over got Sunil (Rakesh took a very good catch) to end any
doubts that OCC was going to win the game Shaluka and Nagendra navigated through
next two overs. Ninad ended the game in 25th over by getting rid of Shaluka (Tanmay
took a good catch on long off). Some accurate bowling by Gauri, Rahim, Tanmay,
Sameer and Javed resulted in Anzacs getting all down for 98. OCC won the game by
40 runs – truly a complete team victory. Thanks to Snehal and Asad for umpiring
this game and to Anzacs for providing lunch.
