NCSU vs ANZ
Saturday, August 10, 2002
The Anzacs registered their most comprehensive victory this season, cruching
a disappointing NCSU by 8 wickets. The Anzacs captain Jonathan won the toss and
put NCSU in to bat. Parth and Hugh made good use of the early dew and bowled
with fire. Hugh effected the breakthrough in the second over of the day getting
the batsman to nick one behind the wickets. He followed that with another wicket
the next over, and NCSU were reeling. They never really recovered from that
point, and wickets fell in a hurry. Keyur, making use of some prodigious swing
bowled a devastating spell of 4-3-1-2. He was backed up by good contributions by
Ronnie and Sunil who picked up 2 wickets apiece as well. NCSU did not help their
cause with some crazy running between the wickets costing them two run outs. The
inherent Anzacs generosity contributed largely to their end total with 27 extras
easily being the highest scorer of the day. The Anzacs respose was, Jonathan
leading the way at the top. A brace of wickets in 3 balls with the score reading
19 provided a brief moment of excitement, but Ketan and Jonathan quickly knocked
off the remaining runs and the Anzacs romped home by 8 wickets in 9.5 overs.
Jonathan, unbeaten on 20 recorded the highest score off the bat for the match.
We prepare to hear this from him for many years to come.
